Quirky color combinations can create so much emotion with even the simplest of pieces. Red with olive, coral with light blue, and yellow with tan are just a few of my favorite unexpected pairings. I loved this red Carven jacket so much that I ended up also buying the pink version…oops!

Question: What are your tips for launching a blog/style website?

Answer: I started Atlantic-Pacific in the Spring of 2010 – which seem like a lifetime ago! At the time, Twitter was relatively new, Instagram didn’t even exist, and blogging in general was not taken seriously – and certainly not considered a legitimate business. Needless to say, things were very different! With that being said, I believe the keys to success now remain quite similar to what they were then. I would give three tips to consider – have an authentic point of view, have a clear strategy, and start before you are ready. There is a ton available out there on the world wide web, so being authentic and cutting through the clutter is vital, regardless of what type of content you are producing. So do something original. What is your content focus? What is your posting schedule? What are your long term goals? Of course these things may change and evolve over time, as they should, but in this space it is very easy to be distracted by the next big thing, be it changes in trends, platforms, or services. If you don’t have a focus, you will lose your point of view. So have a strategy. Don’t wait until you have every last detail figured out, because the reality is that you never will. Get going before you are 100% ready. Chances are that someone else already has. So get started.

I was recently introduced to Commodity candles and I am hooked. They have an incredible range of scents and carry quite the long burn. The packaging is clean and minimal enabling the candles to sit nearly anywhere. So far, Book and Oolong have been my two favorites, but I have a few more to try!
