No. 99 // ORANGES AND APPS

THROWBACK //

Throwing it WAY back! This shoot was done a few day before we moved from SF to NYC. I had the chance to work with one of my favorite photographers and people ever – Bess Friday!

Question: What are some of your favorite apps?

Answer: So truth be told I am actually not a huge tech expert. Yes I work in a digital field, and try to stay on top of/read up on all new technology, apps, algorithms, etc, but I try to keep the amount of apps in my life to a minimal! The few that I do use often (outside of social apps) are dropbox, sun surveyor, google translate, and google drive. I am working with images A LOT and I use dropbox to easily access all of my high resolution images from my phone without wasting storage space or losing resolution. I also use dropbox as a backup to my external hard drive. I store all of my images on external hard drives, but it gives me extra comfort to know they are also saved in a secondary location. Sun Surveyor is an app that easily lets me know the position of the sun in real time and forecasted time on a map. This is tremendously helpful when shooting in new places to know the best times of day to shoot! I travel a lot and am pathetic when it comes to new languages (I can dig up a little bit of Spanish but thats about it). The Google Translate app lets you take a picture and translates everything in the photo – this is a lifesaver in places without an english menu! Google Drive is pretty straightforward, but I do so much work on my laptop I want to access everything I need in a really easy way on my phone and Google Drive allows me to do that. I upload everything from contracts to itineraries to important personal documents. Let me know in the comments if there are any apps that you can’t live without!
