No. 120 // FALL FASHION

THROWBACK //

Okay I know I am jumping the gun here just a bit, but I am pretty excited that fall is coming. Fall is my favorite season for fashion. The layering, the rich colors, the OUTERWEAR! Ah, I can’t wait. This blue and brown post was shot in SoHo last November!

Question: What do you find first when you take photos, the outfit or the location? And what is your favorite time of day to shoot in NYC?

Answer: The outfit always comes first! I have an ongoing visual list saved on my computer of locations – by color and by aesthetic – and once I have the outfit sorted, I’ll dip into that list to decide where to shoot. NYC can be so incredibly hectic, and the light quite harsh, so my favorite time to shoot is at sunrise. But, that doesn’t always happen! Two or three mornings a week I will try to shoot around 6 or 6:30am so I can tackle the crowded neighborhoods (Brooklyn Bridge, Flatiron, Central Park) without too much interference. Fun fact – one of the only iconic places in NYC that I have not shot is Times Square! It’s not really my vibe, but even if it were, no matter the time or season, there are simply too many people!

I’m in love with unexpected color combinations, and this super cool, color blocked funnel neck sweater – with a 70’s vibe – is currently sitting pretty in my cart!
