A NEW YEAR BASICS REFRESH
Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a nice and relaxing long break and got to spend time with those you love. Let’s kick off the new year talking about a few winter transitional pieces that are closet classics. Fashion this time of year is so odd, while holiday plaid and NYE sparkle and shine have died down, true spring dressing feels so far away. I always use this month to take a long hard look at my closet and do some serious cleaning. In that process I also see what basics might need updating. Below are some of the everyday styles that I am excited about in the new year.
P.S. if you are heading somewhere warm and looking for some bright, colorful inspiration, head here as I have just updated my resort shop section with new picks!
I just snagged these boots and they are quickly becoming a favorite of mine. Easy to wear with denim or a transitional dress (like this one) and oh so comfy! Looking for a few other options? I also love these and these. If you are looking for boots that are more than just a nod to the western style try these or these. P.S. peep more ways to style western boots here.
In January and February living in NYC, I loved having a coat that I could thrown it on even over my chunkiest knits. I just ordered this one and also got this under $150 option recently (seen styled here). A few of my other favorites include this one, this one, and this one.
As stripes will always be a staple in my closet I couldn’t help adding this style to the collection. This one with a button sleeve and this turtleneck (under $50) have also caught my eye this week.
I am a super fan of the J.Crew slim straight fit – shop them here, here and here. But to try something new, I just bought these (now 40% off) and they have been on heavy rotation. I love the weight, high rise and cropped length – perfect for pairing back to loafers or sneakers.
The bigger the better. Every time I wear my H&M fisherman sweater I am flooded with DMs – sadly it is sold out! You can shop a few other options that are perfect for the January chill here, here, and here (love the touch of feathers on this one).
A splurge worth every penny! This blazer is a classic you will own forever and looks amazing dressed up or dressed down. If you are looking for something similar at a lower price point try this one, this one, or this one (as seen here, here and here on me). I am also still feeling for plaid blazers. This one and this one are my favorites!
