Lightweight layering season is finally here. It is – by far – my favorite time of year in fashion. Keeping cozy while staying stylish – yes please! When layering for fall I love to play with contrast. Think cropped sweaters paired with long coats. Cashmere knits stacked with heavier options. Different scales of patterns (hello quilted styles!). Short skirts with high socks. The list goes on and on.
I loved styling this jacket, this vest and this cozy button up coat – and big bonus points – they are all under $100! Below I am highlighting these styles and more of my favorite lightweight layering pieces from Uniqlo and diving into how I would style each of them for this fall season. I love a long quilted vest for layering – and also for styling! In addition to Black, this vest is available in Brown and a beautiful Green. I love mixing more utilitarian styles like this with whimsical prints and feminine dresses to create a fun juxtaposition.
This fleece jacket features a larger collar and boxy, cropped fit, making it so easy for layering! It is also available in Off White, Black, and a chic Yellow hue. This style is perfect back to a mini skirt, tights, and sky high platforms!
Uniqlo is famous for their cashmere sweaters. Ringing in under $100, these closet staples should be at the top of anyone’s layering list. Available in SO. MANY. COLORS! There are endless ways to style this and one of thes pop colors such as the green or cobalt blue would look stunning with a neutral suit. If you want to go the color blocking route I would pair a pop color back to a chic midi skirt and colored tights.
The perfect performance padded piece! Equally chic underneath a duffel coat (the lay flat neckline is key for layering!) as it is on top of a cozy cardigan. Available in six colors! I have been wearing mine with straight leg denim and chic loafers for a preppy fall feeling.
Okay, this is certainly a top layer, but I couldn’t resist including this short duffle coat from ongoing collaboration with JW Anderson. In classic Beige and Black, it is traditional British outerwear at its best. Available soon!
