DEMELLIER NEW YORK TOTE REVIEW

demellier new york tote, demellier bag, leather boots, chunky sweater, blair eadie

Lately I’ve been wearing this DeMellier tote on repeat (you can see it styled here) and have received quite a few questions about the bag. How I am liking it? Is it durable? What can I comfortably fit inside? Today I am breaking down more about the brand, all the things I love about the tote itself and what functionalities it has. Let’s dive into my full review of the DeMellier New York tote!

I have the DeMellier New York tote in black small grain cow leather. The bag is fully lined, has four gold feet at bottom, and has an almost eight inch handle drop, making it durable and easy to wear over the shoulder even while wearing your bulkiest winter coat. The leather is a beautiful small grain (I also adore the croc embossed version here) cow leather that easily hide scratches and all the wear and tear that a tote gets during daily use. The interior is incredibly spacious and can hold a 13” laptop, making it great option as a work bag. This bag also includes an interior zip pocket that is big enough to hold a bi-fold wallet or card case.

Overall the design is sleek and minimal. The front buckle is functional but and acts as somewhat of a small branding moment without be obvious. I love that the two side snaps are leather covered, allowing the front buckle and the understated and beautiful gold foil stamped logo to be the only metallic touches. I love wearing the bag with the buckle both done and undone. And, at $650 I think the quality for the price of this bag is excellent.

While the bag has been one of my favorite bags to carry recently there are a few things to point out about the design and style that might not make it perfect for everyone. You can secure it closed with a center mag snap and two smaller side snaps, but for commuters or travelers who prefer a completely secure zip top this might not be the bag for you. The bag is BIG. It is is 22” across and 11” high. I love how big it is but I could see how the bag could be a bit overwhelming for some. The good news is that DeMellier makes the New York tote in a midi size that feel a bit more like an everyday satchel versus a large tote. In fact, it is actually 20% off with the code STYLE24SF here today. I am considering picking up the midi version in the tan suede.

With the bag being so specious there is not a lot of interior organization in the design, which I love. As I mentioned, there is only the interior zip pocket in the lining, so if you are looking for lots of interior organization this bag probably isn’t for you and you may want to consider adding an interior tote organizer like this one.

Overall this bag has become one of the most worn totes in my closet. You can shop this bag as well as some of the other color ways and DeMellier designs here, here, and here!
